Position Summary

As a School Bus Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting students and staff to and from designated locations, following established routes and schedules. You’ll maintain a high level of safety and discipline on the bus while adhering to local, state, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate school buses and other district vehicles.
• Follow designated routes and maintain punctuality with scheduled stops.
• Conduct safe loading and unloading of students.
• Ensure order and discipline on the bus at all times.
• Perform routine inspections and basic bus maintenance (pre/post inspections, cleaning, and reporting defects).
• Safely operate during inclement weather conditions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• CPR and First Aid Certification (current).
• 2+ years of experience working with children (preferred).
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations in the past five years.
• No driving under the influence convictions.
• Must be at least 21 years old.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to sit for long periods (75% of the shift) and walk/stand occasionally (25%).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to react quickly to changing road conditions or emergencies.

Environmental Conditions

• Exposure to infectious diseases inherent to working with children.
• Exposure to loud or unpredictable behavior at times.

Work Hours

This is a part-time position with flexible hours based on the school’s schedule. Hours will average about 10 hours per month.
