Position: Truck / Trailer Mechanic
Location: Rosemount, MN
Pay: $25-$30 per hour
Hours: 6:30 pm to 5:00 pm
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Truck / Trailer Mechanic to join our team at our Rosemount facility. This role involves performing preventative maintenance and general repairs on tractors and trailer units to meet both company and DOT standards. Additionally, you will maintain all rolling equipment, such as front-end loaders, forklifts, and skid steers. You will also be responsible for inventory control of truck and trailer parts and processing all work order paperwork while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair medium to heavy-duty trucks and trailers, including preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs to air and hydraulic brakes, tires, suspensions, and electrical systems, with safety as the top priority.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve issues related to tractors and trailers, such as speedometers, power steering, U-joints, and rear ends.
- Repair trailer components, including doors, floors, and side panels.
- Perform preventative maintenance on tractor and trailer equipment, including routine technical repairs and completing work orders.
- Conduct general or routine welding with or without prints.
- Use effective interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationships with team members and external vendors.
- Contribute to the goals of the shop, leadership team, and company as a whole.
- Document all work orders in detail.
- Abide by all company policies and safety rules, and assist in maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
- Serve as a positive role model for all team members, providing support, enthusiasm, and a positive work environment.
- A valid CDL and DOT physical card are a plus.
Qualifications:
- Technical school certification and/or 1 year of relevant experience in medium to heavy-duty truck repairs.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to make logical decisions in support of business demands.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and communicate effectively over the phone and face-to-face.
- Use effective time management techniques and demonstrate the ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Must be able to effectively and accurately complete detailed work with a sense of urgency, always keeping safety at the forefront.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently while motivating team efforts.
- Demonstrate competency in diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment repairs.
- Ability to clearly communicate in English, both verbally and in writing; ability to read and understand English.
Physical Demands:
- This work is considered heavy physical work, requiring the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must possess strength, stamina, and mobility to perform heavy physical work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
- Operate machines, motor vehicles, hand tools, and job-specific equipment and tools.
