HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO WELD PARTS FOR HIGH LEVEL MACHINING?
We are seeking a skilled and experience Spot Welder for our production support team in New Hope! This position will lead our spot welding efforts to meet production needs. You will also be responsible for sharing your spot welding knowledge and training entry level employees!

Purpose
Spot welding is a process in which contacting metal surfaces are joined by the heat obtained from resistance to electric current. Work pieces are held together under pressure exerted by electrodes. Typically thickness ranges from 0.5 to 3 mm (0.020 to 0.12 in). Spot Welders affix customer jobs in accordance with these techniques and according to customer specifications.
Safety
Comply with safety rules as outlined in Lake Air s Safety Manual and follow all safety policies, procedures, rules and work methods.
Promptly reports injuries for timely diagnoses and medical treatment
Make practical safety suggestions so support continuous improvement in safety.
Responsibilities
Use Spot Welding equipment; apply two shaped copper alloy electrodes to concentrate welding current into a small " spot" and to simultaneously clamp the sheets together. Force a large current through the spot to melt the metal and form the weld.
Install proper electrodes on the spot welding machine.
Adjusts control for proper heat, pressure settings, and timing of current.
Use the proper amount heat to match the sheet' s material properties, its thickness, and type of electrodes.
Work from routings, prints, or instructions.
Maintain electrodes as required.
Examines welded components for any defects.
Deliver first piece to inspection for verification of dimensions and weld accuracy.
Responsible to perform work assignments to the predetermined level of production goals. To communicate any and all problems associated with the process which may interfere with your ability to achieve the level of production quantity and quality desired.
Responsible to produce the highest level of quality, utilizing control plans, customer drawings and appropriate work instructions.
Comply with the requirements of the ISO Quality Management System and departmental procedures, and work-instructions.
Makes practical safety suggestions to support continuous improvements in safety.
Inspects work using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments.
Sets-up and runs a job without assistance.
Inspects equipment, materials, and work for cause of defects.
Knowledge of
Reading, comprehension, problem-solving and math skills normally associated with completion of the 12th grade in school
Knowledge of spot welding equipment
Knowledge and ability to use some finishing equipment
Identifying quality finishes and non-conforming products
Manufacturing environment and how product flows
Skills in
Reading and following written procedures
Reading blueprints and performing all necessary measurements
Expected to be physically capable of loading and unloading machines with production parts which may mean lifting parts weighing from 20 to 50 pounds each.
Required to have the visual ability or to develop the visual ability to inspect parts being run in production and be able to exercise reasonable judgment of good versus bad parts from an appearance standpoint.
